Terms
Website and Workspace terms
These general terms describe the basis on which visitors and account holders may use Sterling’s website and BVI Compliance Workspace.
Last updated: 11 October 2026
1. Scope and acceptance
By using the public website or creating a Workspace account, you agree to these terms. A proposal, engagement letter, subscription confirmation, or other written agreement may apply additional or different terms to a professional service. If there is a conflict, the signed or expressly accepted engagement terms govern that service.
2. Compliance information and professional advice
Website, health-check, library, obligation, assessment, and automated content is general compliance information based on available inputs and sources. It is not legal advice, a regulatory determination, or a guarantee that every requirement has been identified or satisfied. Professional services are provided only within the scope Sterling confirms for the engagement.
3. Accounts and authorised use
You must provide accurate account information, keep credentials confidential, and use the Workspace only for organisations and information you are authorised to manage. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account and should promptly report suspected unauthorised access.
4. Prohibited use
You must not attempt to bypass access controls, interfere with service operation, introduce malicious code, access another organisation’s information, misrepresent automated output as professional approval, infringe third-party rights, or use the service for unlawful activity.
5. Subscriptions, quotations, and services
Available features depend on the selected plan and activation status. Where a price is not published, Sterling will confirm pricing before activation or work begins. One-off services are separately scoped. Billing frequency, service limits, renewal, cancellation, consultant involvement, and deliverables are governed by the applicable confirmation or engagement terms.
6. Sources, availability, and changes
Sterling aims to present useful, source-linked compliance information, but laws, guidance, source availability, and client circumstances change. The Workspace may be updated, suspended, or changed for maintenance, security, legal, or operational reasons. Sterling does not promise uninterrupted availability or real-time regulatory coverage unless expressly agreed in writing.
7. Content and intellectual property
Sterling and its licensors retain rights in the website, Workspace, structure, branding, and original content. You retain rights in material you submit and authorise Sterling to process it as needed to operate the service and perform agreed work. Source documents remain subject to the rights and terms of their publishers.
8. Privacy
Use of personal information is described in the privacy notice and may also be governed by an applicable engagement.
9. Suspension and responsibility
Sterling may restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect users, information, service integrity, or legal compliance. To the extent permitted by applicable law and subject to agreed professional-service terms, users remain responsible for their regulatory decisions, filings, deadlines, and use of general or automated information.
10. Questions and updates
Sterling may update these terms as the service or applicable requirements change. The latest version will be posted here with its update date. Use the contact page for questions about these terms.
